14 Henrietta Street

14 Henrietta Street Dublin is an award-winning social history museum, located a ten minute walk from Castle Hotel. Expertly guided through each of the rooms of this Georgian townhouse, you’ll hear about the people that made it their home. Poetic and personal.

Once a prime address for one Dublin’s wealthiest aristocrats and his servants. Later a residence for solicitors and legal professionals. By 1911, a tenement home to 100 Dubliners.

First and foremost 14 Henrietta Street was a home. This museum perfectly reflects this; enhanced by clever audio visual displays and carefully curated, donated objects. It peels back the layers of Dublin history through the fortunes of the house and its inhabitants. You’ll be shown the grim and the good.

Lizzy’s flat is a highlight. With the help of Lizzy’s relatives, one Georgian room is divided carefully by partitions creating kitchen, bedroom and living room. Lizzy’s photograph adorns the upright piano welcoming visitors while the tour guide shares stories about the vibrant community living within the building.

14 Henrietta Street provides accessible experiences for visitors (Irish Sign Language tours, hearing induction loop, fully accessible floors with lift, facility to borrow wheelchairs and useful Visual guide to make pre-planning easier).

The Guided Tour lasts 75 minutes but 14 Henrietta Street run a variety of tours and events throughout the year, including Outdoor Walking Tours. Henrietta Street itself is Ireland's finest complete collection of early to mid-18th century residences and it’s worth taking a moment to walk along the street to take it all in. Work on the street began in the 1720s, when the houses were erected for Dublin's most affluent families.
