What time is guest check-in?
You may check-in at 3.00pm, although you may also like to leave your luggage at the Castle Hotel while you explore Dublin.

What is the latest time I can check-in?
Reception is open 24/7 but please let our team on reception know if you’ll be arriving after 10pm. Our main entrance door may be locked for security reasons after this time but ring the bell and our night porter will welcome you.

What is the latest time I can check-out of the Castle Hotel in Dublin?
Check-out at The Castle Hotel in Dublin is by 11am on your departure date. We are happy to store any luggage for you if you'd like to check out before 12. This helps us get a head start on cleaning for other guests arriving that day, too.

How late is the hotel open?
Our reception is open 24 hours.

Do you have internet?
Yes, The Castle Hotel has complimentary Wi-Fi access available in all our bedrooms and public areas. You’ll be given our Wi-Fi code on check-in.  

Does the Castle Hotel have an Elevator? Yes, The Castle Hotel has two elevators. Please let a member of our team know at the time of booking if you need a room close to an elevator.

Is there somewhere we can store our luggage if we arrive before check in time?
Yes, we have a luggage room where you can store luggage before check in time. You can also leave your luggage here if you have a late flight. This is complimentary. 

Parking & Transport

Do you provide parking?
Yes, secure parking is available at the hotel and costs 15 Euro per day.

Does your carpark have a height restriction?
Yes, the height restriction for our carpark is 2.85 meters or 9ft 4 inches.

What transport is available to get around?
A lot of attractions are within easy walking distance but we also have a local bus service that stops 1 minute from the hotel. Dublin Bus Hop on and Hop off buses stop on Parnell Square, across the street from The Castle Hotel.

How do I get to The Castle Hotel from Dublin Airport?
To The Castle Hotel in the city centre from Dublin Airport you can choose bus, coach, taxi or car rental.

Is there is bus from the airport that stops near the hotel?
The 747 Dublin Bus or Aircoach express buses from Dublin Airport stop on O’Connell Street Upper, which is a 5 minute walk from The Castle Hotel. The Aircoach departs every 15 minutes offering a swift service to Dublin Airport and accepts contactless card payment (single or return).
For those on a budget and with a little more time, from Dublin Airport take Dublin Bus 16 or 41 in the direction of Dublin city centre to Parnell Square, 1 minute walk from the Castle Hotel. For more about cash fares and leap cards see Dublin Bus. Please make sure that you have the correct change to pay for your fare as drivers cannot accept Euro notes or give change.

Is there somewhere we can store our luggage if we arrive before check in time?
Yes we have a ‘left luggage’ room where you can store luggage before check in time. You can also leave your luggage here if you have a late flight. This is complimentary.

Enterprise and Hertz have car rental hire nearby. Enterprise is within 10 minutes’ walk or Hertz is a 20 minutes’ walk of The Castle Hotel.

When is the best time to visit Ireland and Dublin?
The best time to visit Dublin is now. The peak holiday season in Ireland is June to August. May is late spring and there's usually less rainfall, similarly, the beginning of September Dublin experiences milder temperatures and the leaves begin to change colour. Late November is incredibly festive in Dublin. Be aware that while mild, the weather in Ireland is very changeable, you can even enjoy several seasons in one day. 


What is a pre-authorisation?
A pre-authorisation is a temporary hold of a specific amount of the available balance on a credit or debit card that is provided upon booking. The pre-authorisation is not a charge and no funds have been debited from your account.

How much is a pre-authorisation?
The amount that we pre-authorise will depend on the amount of nights that you stay.

Why is the credit card pre-authorised?
When you give us a credit/debit card, the pre-authorisation guarantees us that the funds are available to pay for any charges incurred.

When does the pre-authorisation get released from the credit card?
This varies dependent on your individual credit/debit card. Upon your check out your room charge and any extras will be charged to your card, this will appear on your credit card statement within 3 working days. However if you choose to pay the balance with another credit card or choose cash, we will cancel the pre-authorisation and this can take up to 5 working days for credit card and  10 days for debit card to clear in your account.

The hotel is NOT charging your credit card. A pre-authorisation is a security guarantee for payment only. The pre-authorisation fund is not held by the hotel, the company who provide the credit card system or by the authorizing bank. The pre-authorisation fund is held on your card by your own issuing bank. A pre- authorisation can be held on your card for a minimum of 5 working days for credit card or 15 days for debit card. Pre-authorisation should be released by your issuing bank automatically, if not you will need to contact your home issuing bank.

***Please note that the hotel reserves the right to pre-authorize your credit card 48 hours prior to arrival. Non-valid credit cards will result in automatic cancellation of the reservation.***

How can I cancel or adjust my reservation?
If you booked your room through an Online Travel Agent, such as / Expedia etc, please contact them directly as their terms and conditions will apply. If you booked your room directly with us, you can change or cancel your reservation until 48hr prior to check in at 3pm. Do you accept cash?
We accept cash in our bar and restaurants, however we appreciate cashless transactions.

Can I use British Sterling Pounds or US Dollars in Dublin, Ireland?
Unfortunately, you cannot use British Sterling Pounds or US Dollars to pay for goods and services in the Republic of Ireland. The currency used is Euros. However, there are Bureau de change/ Forex Bureaus located near the Castle Hotel where you can exchange your currency for local currency.

Breakfast and Dining

Do you serve Breakfast?
Yes, Full Irish Breakfast, Vegetarian Breakfast or Continental Breakfast is included with all our rooms at The Castle Hotel.

What time is Breakfast served at The Castle Hotel?
The Castle Hotel serves Continental breakfast from 7am. Hot breakfast is served daily from 7:30 to 10:30am. Due to covid19 safety precautions we have three sittings. Please book these in advance with a member of reception.

Where is breakfast served at The Castle Hotel?
Breakfast is served downstairs on the lower ground floor in the Malton Room and Castle Vaults Restaurant. Please access the breakfast room from the staircases beside the main foyer and hotel reception. Follow signs for ‘bar’.

I am checking out early, can I still have breakfast?
Yes you can certainly enjoy breakfast with an early check out. This consists of a take-away package of a muffin, piece of fruit and a juice. Please order this the night before with a member of our reception team.

Do you have outdoor dining?
Yes, the Castle Hotel has outdoor dining available in our covered garden.  

Does the menu cater for coeliac?
Yes, we have some options on our menu that are gluten free. Please let our team know if you are coeliac at the time of booking, check-in and always let your server know too.

Do the rooms have a hairdryer? 
All the bedrooms at the Castle Hotel have a hairdryer in addition to tea and coffee making facilities.

Do you have bedrooms with kitchen facilities?
The Harry Clarke Mews, at the Castle Hotel has additional facilities including a small kitchenette with refrigerator . This makes it perfect for guests that are visiting nearby hospitals such as the Rotunda Maternity Hospital, the Mater Private, the Mater Hospital and Temple Street Children's Hospital or that may need to store medication as they travel to Dublin.
