"Tuesdays with Morrie" is a play based on the best-selling memoir of the same name by Mitch Albom. The book recounts Albom's experiences with his former sociology professor, Morrie Schwartz, who was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Albom reconnects with Morrie sixteen years after graduation after seeing him on a television news program and learns valuable life lessons as a simple visit, turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a last class in the meaning of life.
Mitch tape records his discussions with Morrie so that he may compile notes with which to write a book, Tuesdays With Morrie, a project which he and Morrie refer to as their "last thesis together." Morrie continually tells Mitch that he wants to share his stories with the world, the book will allow him to do just that.
The play adaptation, like the book, explores themes of life, death, love, and the meaning of existence. It has been adapted for the stage by Jeffrey Hatcher and Mitch Albom.
