The Pixies are an American alternative rock band formed in 1986 in Boston, Massachusetts. The band consists of Black Francis (vocals, guitar), Joey Santiago (guitar), Paz Lenchantin (bass, vocals), and David Lovering (drums). They are known for their influential and distinctive sound, blending elements of punk rock, post-punk, and surf rock.
The original line up included Kim Deal as the bassist and vocalist, but she left the band in 2013, and Paz Lenchantin took over the bass duties.
The Pixies gained critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase with their early releases, including the EP "Come On Pilgrim" (1987) and the albums "Surfer Rosa" (1988) and "Doolittle" (1989). These albums featured iconic tracks such as "Where Is My Mind?" and "Debaser."
After disbanding in 1993, the Pixies reunited in 2004 and have since released new material, including the albums "Indie Cindy" (2014) and "Head Carrier" (2016). Their music has had a significant impact on the alternative and indie rock scenes, influencing numerous bands that followed them.
