Jameson Distillery

John Jameson was originally a Scotchman who embarked on a journey which involved him making his mark in Dublin. Many, if not all. will believe he achieved to the highest degree by making one of the world’s most loved whiskeys as by the 1800, Jameson had become the world’s number one whiskey.

In the 19th century, this distillery was the second largest producer in Ireland and one of the largest in the world by producing 1,000,000 gallons a year. With this in mind, Dublin was then the centre of worldwide whiskey production.

Many historical events did had a huge impact on the selling and distribution of Jameson, the two main events being the Irish War of Independence and the subsequent trade war with England which denied Jameson exporting to the Commonwealth markets. Also soon after, prohibition was introduced in the United States which left Jameson excluded from distribution to one of its biggest markets for a number of years.

This Distillery still remains to be very popular amongst many with it still being well known for hosting some of the best parties in Dublin.
