Dropkick Murphys is an American Celtic punk band that originated in Quincy, Massachusetts, in 1996. The band is known for its energetic and aggressive sound, combining elements of punk rock with traditional Irish folk music. The Dropkick Murphys' lineup has changed over the years, but key members have included Al Barr (vocals), Ken Casey (bass guitar, vocals), Matt Kelly (drums, bodhrán), James Lynch (guitar, vocals), Tim Brennan (accordion, mandolin, bouzouki, tin whistle, acoustic guitar), and Jeff DaRosa (banjo, mandolin, bouzouki, guitar).

One of their most well-known songs is "I'm Shipping Up to Boston," which gained widespread recognition after being featured in the soundtrack of the 2006 film "The Departed." The song features lyrics written by Woody Guthrie and was adapted and recorded by the Dropkick Murphys.

The band's discography includes albums such as "Do or Die" (1998), "The Gang's All Here" (1999), "Sing Loud, Sing Proud!" (2001), "The Warrior's Code" (2005), and more.

Dropkick Murphys are particularly renowned for their spirited live performances and their ability to blend punk rock intensity with Irish folk influences. Their music often explores themes of working-class struggles, Irish American identity, and social issues.
