International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival

5th-18th May 214 in Dublin City Centre

The International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival returns for its 11th anniversary and will run from 5th-18th May 2014.

The festival programme will include musical theatre, drama, comedy and music and this will be featured at many venues across Dublin City Centre over the 14 days. The IDGTF was founded in 2004 to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Oscar Wilde in Dublin. Since then it has grown to become the largest of its kind of festivals in Ireland and the world.

The festival showcases themes or addressing broader themes of gender identity, sexuality, masculinity and feminism and directs them to a mainstream audience. It also works with a gay themes or playwrights to Irish, European or world premieres and all are performed and staged from a wide variety of artists.

Over 100 submissions are made and only 30 are carefully selected and showcased throughout the Festival. A nightly festival club will be available, gay theatre and play-readings all of which are free events.
