The National Wax Museum Plus
One fantastic thing you can do while your stay in Dublin is to visit the National Wax museum based in the heart of the city
The National Wax Museum Plus is an exciting visitor attraction with a lot on view to offer. It is located in the Heart of Dublin City Centre and its entrance is situated across from Trinity College, just off Dame Street and only 2 minutes’ walk from O Connell Bridge. It is the Irish version of Madame Tussauds and is packed full of expertise Wax Made Sculptures. The National Wax Museum used to be located in the North Side of the City on Granary Row and officially opened its doors in its new location on October 7th 2009. The building is home to 4 floors and 13,000 square feet in a historic landmark building on Foster Place. The building was once known for being a home to Ireland’s Gold Score and arms during the last Century.
Offering 4 floors of history and excitement the Museum Visitors will enter through the Irish Writers Room, which is a salute to the literary legacy of our Nation’s greatest Writers. The basement is where you will find the Vaults of Irish History from the Good Friday Agreement right back to the Vikings! And the Weird and Wonderful World of Chamber of Horrors – Enter if you dare!! On the second floor visitors can experience the Children’s Fantasy World, which focuses highly on Children’s imagination and curiosity where, there will find a room full of colour and characters. Children can climb through a tunnel of the year’s meeting Harry Potter! Chill out and watch a puppet show or a video, there is so much to do kids will be spoilt for choice!! On the third floor visitors can enjoy legends of Irish television, sports and theatre and visit the green screen video room, which boasts a fully functioning recording studio and a green screen video room.
The Wax Museum Plus also offers the “Wax Factor”, this is a place where visitors can experience a completely new way of having interactive fun. In the Green Room you can superimpose yourself onto an array of backgrounds that join together to make the cast of a video, Music will be playing in the background so you can sing and dance along to your favourite tunes! After your visit to the Green Room visitors can choose to purchase the video for 7.00 Euro from the Gift Shop. Past visitors have described the experience as an example of digital technology.
On the top floor are where visitors can experience the Grand Hall of Fame, which plays tribute to some of the greatest in music and film and where you will find dedication to legends such as Liam Neeson, U2 & Phil Lynott.
The Museum is set out to take visitors on a journey through Irish cultural heritage. The building has been designed to offer outstanding attraction and excitement in an interactive experience. The Wax Museum offers an enchanting children’s zone, full of discovery and a dedicated tribute to Ireland’s top scientific inventors, which is Ireland’s only! Visitors can experience all the wax works characters at the Museum - from the Simpsons to old Irish President’s and take your camera to take a picture with your favourite character!
The National Wax Museum is based in Dublin 2 at Fosters Place, Temple Bar, Dublin 1. It is only a ten minutes walk from the hotel.
