Henry Street is located just off O’ Connell St and is one of the two principal shopping streets of Dublin (the other being Grafton Street), running from the Spire of Dublin(just off O’Connell Street) in the east to Liffey Street in the west.
Since the 1980s, Henry Street has been mostly pedestrianised. With some 33 million people visiting the street each year it is Dublin's favourite shopping district.
Henry Street is home to leading department stores Arnotts and Marks and Spencer and has over 200 independant stores. Clothes shops like Envy, USB, Next, Sasha, Merc, A-Wear, Oasis, Penneys, Japan, Wallis, Diffneys, No Name, Extovert and Evans. Shoe shoes too with Korkys, Zerep, Ravel and She. Music shops such as HMV are present, . Jewellers H.Samuel, Fields and Swarovski. There are various sports shops like John David and Lifestyle Sports. For gifts there's the computer game shop GameStop and also Monsoon Accessories.
It also has two large shopping centres, The Ilac Shopping Centre and Jervis Shopping Centre.
The Ilac Shopping Centre is great for clothes shops such as Japan, Korky’s, Fab, No Name, Dunnes Stores, and Debenhams, along with fast food restaurants such as Mc Donald’s, Burger King and O’Brien’s.
The Jervis Shopping Centre is home to many high street shops such as Top Shop, New Look, Dorothy Perkins, Miss Selfridge, Berska, Champion Sports, Next, and Forever 21, it also includes many of the British chains such as Boots and Argos.
The famous outdoor food market of Moore Street is just off Henry Street.
Henry Street is also famous for its many performing artists such as Musicians, poets and mime artists who all commonly perform on Henry Street to large shopping crowds.
