The National Concert Hall
The National Concert Hall is located on Earlsfort Terrace on the south side of Dublin and close to St Stephen’s Green.
he National Concert Hall of Dublin was opened in 1981 on Earlsfort Terrace, just off St Stephen’s Green. It is well known for being the main venue for housing main classical concerts in Ireland.
There are 3 performing areas in the hall. The main auditorium is used for large scale performances & some operas with a magnificent concert organ set as a background to the stage. The John Field Room is used for exhibitions & small scale recitals. The Carolan Room is used for receptions, corporate functions & pre-events talks.
The Concert Hall has its own resident orchestra, the RTE National Symphony which plays a central role in classical music through live performances, broadcasts, & touring. They host weekly performances covering a range of music from classical, jazz, & opera.
The production company,’ Lyric Opera Productions’ is housed here & has staged successful stage musicals & operettas such as ‘Oliver’, ‘The Sound of Music’, ‘The Wizard of Oz’, ‘Oklahoma!’ ‘The King & I’, to name just a few.
The National Concert Hall is only a 30 minute walk from The Castle Hotel or you can catch the number 14 bus from D’Olier Street which is a 10 minute walk from The Castle Hotel.
