Dublin Writers Museum
Ireland is a well-known country for its outstanding writers, poets and literatures and on the doorstep of the Castle Hotel is the Dublin Writers Museum.
The museum is one of the most famous attractions in Dublin where people visit to be swept away by Irish tales, focloir, poetry and excerpts from diary’s that were written by Irish literary hero’s such as Yeats, Beckett, Joyce, Heaney, Patrick Kavanagh and Oscar Wilde. The museum will have you knee deep in literary heritage as it is the home of some of the world’s greatest love story’s, adventures, personal letters, portraits and even personal items. The museum was opened in 1991 and is located on South Great Georges Street, just off Parnell Square. It is a beautiful restored 18th Century Georgian mansion that has held collections of literary for the past 300 years with famous books such as, the importance of being Earnest, Ulysses, Dracula and Gulliver’s Travels. The museum itself has a library, museum room, gallery and an administration area. There is also a coffee shop and a book shop at the annexe on the ground floor and an exhibition and lecture room on the above floors.
The museum is one of the most interesting places to visit around Dublin; it offers a digital audio guide so you can experience the whole collection in full detail. You may also be able to arrange a guide tour but there may be an additional charge, the great thing about having a tour guide is that you can organise a tour guide that can speak you language! It is available in French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch and English, so anyone can experience the Writers Museum and its amazing collections.
