International Tall Ships Race 2012
Dublin welcomes the International Tall Ships Race from Thursday 23 August 2012 until Sunday 26 August.
This event will see up to 100 Tall Ships sail into the capital for a four day festival. Ships from Chile, Mexico, Argentina, the US, Europe and some Baltic countries will chart their course to Dublin for the final leg of the race.
Not only will the Tall Ships dock but you can also welcome the participants and get up close to the ships and see exactly how big the ships really are.
Dublin City Council and Dublin Port Company are honoured that they have been chosen as the host port for the Tall Ships Race and are working around the clock to finalise all the details for the race. The event is a huge benefit to Dublin, as it will show case that Dublin can host such a large event and welcome crowds from worldwide.
The handsome Keith Duffy has been chosen to represent the event as “First Mate” for the Tall Ships Race 2012 along with numerous events down at the Docks. Bulmer’s will present a free live music stage at Georges Dock where there will be a number of different performances (The line-up has yet to be released). There will also be plenty of other events taking place along the Quays. Also an exited Family Programme is taking place in Grand Canal Square, which will present nautical themed workshops and installations, interactive concerts, puppet shows, storytelling and amazing water sport displays. This event really is a delightful day out for you and your entire family so it is well worth a visit.
The Castle hotel is located within easy access to the docklands area where this event is taking place.
